The Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario
Benevolence
Members and backstretch workers can sometimes find themselves in hardship due to a variety of reasons. The Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association of Ontario (HBPA of Ontario) is an organization that supports its members and backstretch employees during times of need through financial assistance.
Members may visit the nearest HBPA of Ontario office to pick up an application form or may access it here.
Once received the application is reviewed by the Horsemen’s Service Representative and is presented to the Benevolence Committee. The Committee convenes every month to review the merits of each application and then presents its recommendations to the Board of Directors at the monthly board meetings for discussion and final approval.
Applications must be submitted by the 2nd Wednesday of each month in order for it to be reviewed by the Benevolence Committee in that review period. Applications received after the 2nd Wednesday of the month will be reviewed during the Committee’s next meeting which is typically the following month.
