The Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario
Awards
Through its various activities, the Association aims to support the thoroughbred race horse industry in Ontario offering various benefits to licensed Owners and/or Trainers and their backstretch employees.
Owners’ Awards are given to the Owners of Ontario-bred thoroughbred horses at Fort Erie and Woodbine Race Track for winners of claiming races, allowance races, and maiden races. In other words, all races except for stake races qualify for the lucrative bonus. The financial bonus sometimes varies from year to year.
How do I receive my award?
The Association downloads race results for Woodbine & Fort Erie Race Track from the Jockey Club Information System’s – Equibase website on a daily basis. The staff then tabulates the results, establishes the winners, and mails awards twice a month.
How do Owners ensure they receive their Ontario-bred awards?
Members who own Ontario-bred thoroughbred horses need to ensure that the Association has their most up to date mailing address on file at all times. Doing so facilitates the efficient processing of awards allowing winning Owners to receive bonuses in a timely manner.
If you have recently changed your address, please complete a change of address form.
Alternatively, when a member renews their Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) license annually you may complete the ORC’s form which allows the ORC to release your contact information to the HBPA of Ontario.
Please note that we respect the privacy of our Members and do not release or sell information to third parties.
