OMAFRA Biosecurity Advisory
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) has been notified of a confirmed case of Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy (EHM), caused by equine herpes virus 1 (EHV-1), in Southern Ontario. A PDF of the Biosecurity Advisory is attached.
ORC Chief Veterinarian Dr. Bruce Duncan is monitoring the details of the case to determine if there are direct implications for horse racing. Racing participants with questions can contact Dr. Duncan directly at (416) 458-1690.
